
Chief Warrant Officer John Barnes served in the Canadian Armed Forces as an infantryman for thirty-six years, primarily in The Royal Canadian Regiment. He served in Germany, Cyprus, the Former Yugoslavia, Qatar and Afghanistan. While serving with 1 RCR in Afghanistan in 2006, he was the Company Sergeant Major of Charles Company. He has been awarded the Sacrifice Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and was appointed as a Member of the Order of Military Merit. Now retired, he lives in the National Capital Region with his wife of 33 years, Julie.
